AFTER THE CEREMONY
When the ceremony is completed, the clergy performing
the ceremony will then ask the Bride
and Groom to face the guests and present the
couple as “Mr. and Mrs. (name).” The Bride
and Groom will be last to leave the alter, with
you escorting the Maid of honor to the back of
the church where wedding guests will be waiting
to start the receiving line and congratulate
the newly married couple.
The Bride and Groom will be the first in the
receiving line, then the Maid of honor and the
Best Man, followed by the other members of
the wedding party. You should attempt to say
“Hello” or “Good Day” to every person coming
through the receiving line, even if you do
not know who they are.
After the guests have left the ceremony site,
pictures are taken in the church where you will
be required to smile and be presented along
with other members of the wedding party.
After pictures in the church are finished, make
sure that all members of the wedding party are
situated in the appropriate car. Typically, the
Best Man and the Maid of Honor ride in the
same vehicle as the Bride and Groom, with the
Best Man driving, unless a limousine has been
rented with a driver. In this case, you and the
Maid of Honor would ride in the back with the
Bride and Groom.
